Have you ever eaten raw potato before? I used to when I was little. My mom would be cutting vegetables for soup, and I’d always sneak away little cubes and spears of whatever she was chopping up. One time I decided to try raw potato. If you’re curious about how that turned out, I’ll just tell you now. Raw potato? Do not recommend. Must disgust. Such starch.
Baked potatoes in a cooked format, though? MUCH DELISH. Highly recommend! And that is why, this week, we are going super easy mode.
That’s right, folks!! We are making Sasha Blouse’s potato from Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). I’ve been making a lot of fancy, complicated recipes these last few weeks, so I wanted to take it down a few levels. If you like baked potatoes, this is the perfect blog post for you! If you want to know how to make a potato for cosplay purposes, this is also the blog for you! If you are poor and can only afford to eat potatoes for the next month, this is also also for you! If you can’t cook but want an entry level recipe, THIS IS THE BLOG 4 U.
*Ahem* Let’s get started.
- 1 Russet Potato (or more, if you are making enough for a group)
For people who want to eat the potato:
You will also need salt and olive oil.
Pay special attention to the shape of the potato. You want one that’s not too big and is slightly roundish, similar to the one she holds in the anime.
How to Make a Baked Potato
Step 1, Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 2, Scrub your potato.
Step 3, Stab your potato all over with a fork to create vent holes.
Step 4 for people who want to eat the potato only, Rub outside of potato with olive oil and salt. For cosplayers, avoiding the oil and salt will make it easier and less messy for you to carry around all day. Leaving off the oil will not affect the cooking of the potato.
Step 5, Place potato directly on oven rack, with a pan underneath to catch the drippings if you coated your potato with oil.
Step 6, Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until sides become squishy, or a fork into the potato meets no hard potato resistance.
Step 7 for cosplayers only, Let cool before you handle with bare hands. This sucker will be hot.
Step 8 for people who want to eat the potato only, Enjoy your baked potato.
Oh yeah, baby.
